About
Dr. Asha Gupta, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and hepatologist. She provides thoughtful, evidence-based care and is known for her attentive listening style and collaborative approach.
Dr. Gupta completed her medical training at the University of California, Irvine, followed by residency and fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of California, Davis. She spent more than a decade at UC Davis Health in academic medicine, where she cared for patients and taught future physicians as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine.
Dr. Gupta provides comprehensive gastroenterology care, including screening and diagnostic colonoscopy for colon cancer prevention and upper endoscopy (EGD) to evaluate symptoms such as reflux, swallowing difficulties, abdominal pain, anemia, or gastrointestinal bleeding. She takes a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to endoscopic procedures, with an emphasis on safety, comfort, and clear communication before and after the procedure.
She commonly sees patients for digestive concerns such as IBS, celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, and colon cancer prevention, as well as for several liver and biliary conditions including elevated liver enzymes, fatty liver disease, and hepatitis. Dr. Gupta also has particular expertise in gastrointestinal motility disorders such as achalasia, gastroparesis, and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Clear communication and partnership are central to Dr. Gupta’s approach to care. Many digestive conditions benefit from ongoing education and follow-up, and she focuses on helping patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options so they can feel confident in their care plan.
Dr. Gupta has offices in Concord and Antioch. She also provides both inpatient and outpatient care at John Muir Medical Center–Concord and Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch.
