Varicose vein treatments are generally not painful. Most of the procedures are performed in an office setting under local anesthesia. If patients desire, they can receive oral pain medication ahead of time, but during and immediately after the procedure, there is minimal to no discomfort. These procedures are very well tolerated. There are various procedures that can be performed, most of which are done in the office. In some cases, depending on the procedure, treatment may be done as an outpatient.
