About
Dr. Tyler Kang is a board-certified medical oncologist with over 15 years of experience in cancer treatment. Dr. Kang currently works for the Gregory Rhodes MD Cancer Center. As a magna cum laude graduate in biological sciences, Dr. Kang was first introduced to oncology through his fascination with cancer research during his medical training at the University of Southern California.
He followed his mentor to the Cleveland Clinic, where he completed an advanced fellowship in medical oncology and hematology. After returning to California, where he has deep roots, Dr. Kang joined a private practice in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. He later became Medical Director at the Adventist Health Cancer Center in St. Helena, where he led the clinical trials program and chaired the cancer committee. During this time, he also helped establish the program as an accredited community cancer center through the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
While his initial interest in oncology was rooted in research, it was his work with patients and their families that solidified his calling. As an immigrant, he understands the complex socioeconomic challenges that can accompany a cancer diagnosis. He is also deeply aware of cultural perspectives toward Western medicine and cancer therapies, and he strives to work collaboratively with each patient to provide holistic, personalized care. His longtime motto is, “Treat the body and heal the soul.”
