About

Gaia Mohr-Tonachini, MMSc, PA-C, is a physician associate specializing in neurosurgery, caring for patients with surgical brain and spinal conditions. She brings nearly three years of experience practicing at a large academic medical center, where she worked alongside fellowship-trained neurosurgeons and academic staff in both the clinic and operating room settings.

Mohr-Tonachini completed her undergraduate studies with honors at the University of California, Davis, earning a degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. She then earned her Master of Medical Sciences from the Yale School of Medicine Physician Associate Program, where she developed a strong foundation in surgical care and advanced imaging.

During her time at Yale, she managed patients with degenerative spine disease, traumatic injuries, spinal tumors, and other neurosurgical conditions. Her experience in an academic setting exposed her to complex pathology and multidisciplinary care models, strengthening her clinical judgment and surgical coordination skills. She is experienced in preoperative evaluation, post-operative management, and interpretation of advanced imaging studies, including MRI, CT, CT myelogram, and SPECT bone CT.

Mohr-Tonachini emphasizes clear communication and patient-centered care. She takes time to review imaging findings in detail and discuss all appropriate treatment options to help patients feel informed and supported throughout their care journey.

Her greatest professional fulfillment comes from helping patients regain function and quality of life through thoughtful, compassionate, and collaborative neurosurgical care.
