Dr. Akshaya Prabhakaran is a board-certified neurologist with specialized training in vascular neurology. She is dedicated to the diagnosis, management, and long-term care of patients with complex cerebrovascular conditions.
Originally from India, Dr. Prabhakaran earned her medical degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute. She then pursued advanced medical training in the United States, completing her neurology residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), followed by a fellowship in vascular neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW).
Dr. Prabhakaran’s clinical interests include a broad spectrum of vascular neurological disorders, with particular focus on:
- Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
- Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA)
- Moyamoya disease
- Arterial dissections
She is committed to providing patient-centered, evidence-based care and is passionate about improving stroke outcomes through early intervention, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
