Dr. Omar Alshuwaykh began his medical journey at the University of Baghdad School of Medicine and earned his MD degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Wayne State University, followed by a Hepatology Fellowship at Stanford University and a Gastroenterology Fellowship at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. Additionally, he pursued a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley.

His dedication to advancing the field is reflected in numerous publications and research contributions that have significantly shaped clinical practice. During his research tenure at Stanford University, Dr. Alshuwaykh focused on pivotal advancements in gastroenterology and hepatology, leading to impactful publications and presentations at prestigious national and international conferences. His work has been widely cited by leading medical societies and has directly influenced treatment guidelines and clinical practices. Notably, one of his landmark studies conducted at Stanford University drove revolutionary changes in chronic hepatitis B treatment guidelines both in China and locally at Stanford University.
