Urology, or genitourinary surgery, is the sub-specialty that focuses on the surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary tract (kidney, ureter, urinary bladder, and urethra), and the male reproductive organs (prostate, penis, and testicles). Treatment for urologic disorders encompasses a broad range of modalities, including medical (non-surgical) treatment, minimally invasive procedures, and minor and complex surgery.
