Dr. Joseph Brandel completed his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in psychology at The City University of New York, Brooklyn College. Pursuing his passion of medicine, he was accepted into the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, where he earned his medical degree, Magna Cum Laude and completed a general surgery residency. At SUNY, Dr. Brandel was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. After his residency, Dr. Brandel completed two surgical fellowships, one in trauma and critical care at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark and another at the University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. During his fellowship in Hackensack, Dr. Brandel studied both minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. Dr. Brandel runs a private practice in Antioch. Dr. Brandel’s area of expertise is comprehensive general surgery and minimally invasive surgery.
