Patients should remember to keep their standards high. Choosing the right weight loss clinic takes time, research, and patience. At your initial consultation, your doctor should approach you with care. You’ll likely cover these bases:
This routine check-up should accomplish two things:
After discussing your medical history at length, your doctor should provide you with an assessment and plan for the next steps. Based on your weight, health, background, and goals, you’ll work with your doctor to come up with an appropriate treatment plan. Weight loss surgery isn’t always the goal. Your doctor should assess all options before proceeding with surgery. Many patients benefit from some treatment plans, such as:
Your doctor is there to answer any questions about treatment options, whether it’s weight-loss surgery or alternative methods. At the end of your initial appointment, you should have a better idea of what your next steps are. Schedule a follow-up with your doctor once the appointment is complete.
BASS Bariatric Surgery Center prides itself on being the highest-quality weight loss clinic in California. Our team of expert doctors has overseen hundreds of successful weight loss surgeries. After determining the best route of treatment, you may qualify for some potential procedures. BASS offers:
Gastric sleeve, or sleeve gastrectomy, is a procedure where most of the stomach is removed from the body. This significantly reduces the size of the stomach, therefore reducing hunger and diminishing appetite.
Gastric bypass partitions the stomach and creates a small upper pouch and a large lower pouch. This reduces the capacity of the small upper pouch, meaning patients will feel full more quickly.
Gastric band surgery, though similar to gastric bypass surgery, is slightly different. A rubber-like ring is placed around the upper part of the stomach to create a pouch. The band doesn’t completely separate the stomach and can be tightened or loosened depending on the patient’s preferences.
This procedure begins with a sleeve gastrectomy. Your surgeon will close off the middle section of the intestine and attach it to the duodenum. The duodenum serves the function of releasing food into the small intestine.
BASS values the well-being of its patients above all else. If you’re curious about moving forward with weight loss surgery, schedule a consultation today. Our team of experienced doctors will work with you directly to determine the best treatment plan for you. We’ve seen hundreds of patients transform their lives through weight loss surgery, and we hope to offer you the same. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
